Clean deployment
To perform a clean deployment, follow the steps below.
Uninstall Office
There are two ways to uninstall Office:
- Uninstall through Windows Settings or Control Panel, which can only clean a single product or language.
- On the Deploy page, mark some or all products/languages for uninstallation, then click Start Deploy to confirm the uninstallation.
Note
If you are unable to uninstall Office through normal means, you can force remove Office on the Toolbox page. Force removing Office will clean both activation information and Office application settings, so you do not need to perform the following operations unless you skipped those items.
Clean more items
- Clear activation information of Office: If you do not clear this information, the previously activation information will still be displayed after Office is installed.
- Reset Office settings to defaults: If you do not clear this information, Office will still use the previous settings, such as language, theme, and other application settings.
Reinstall Office
After the cleaning is complete, simply install the new Office as you would for a first deployment.
